Emory Thompson is the founder and senior pastor of Golden Mountain Ministries in Sparta, TN. Emory is the son of Emory Sr. and Judy Thompson who are the founders and pastors of West Little York Church of God in Houston, TX. Emory gave his life to the Lord at a young age and accepted the call of God to preach when he was fourteen years old.

After graduating from an ACE Christian school at his parent’s church in 1990 he went to Lewisville, TX for Bible College. In December of 1992 he married the love of his life Loel. In June 1997 they had a daughter Whitney, and in April 2000 they had a son Isaac. As a family they now serve together in the great work started in TN.

Emory is recognized all across the country as a powerful youth speaker. He has traveled to forty five of the fifty states preaching the gospel. He has served the Lord as an evangelist, Youth Pastor, Christian School administrator, Sunday school teacher, musician, and now pastor.

In October 2010 the Lord led Emory & Loel to begin a new work. They decided along with a handful of people to begin Golden Mountain Ministries. Every week Emory bring the powerful word of God to life. If you are around him for just a few minutes you will find that he is passionate about the God that he serves.

Emory’s vision for Golden Mountain Ministries is beyond what most would even be able to believe. A Christian School, Bible College, Youth Camp, Girl’s Home, and Boy’s Home are just a few of the ministries God will bless GMM with over the next few years.

Loel Thompson is a woman of leadership possessing a great love for God’s people. She and her husband, Emory had a vision to start Golden Mountain Ministries in October 2010. She serves as the main teacher for Golden Mountain Academy which is a ministry she is passionate about.

Loel grew up in a Godly home with her parents JV & Jean Roberts and her three sisters. Serving God was the first priority of this family regardless of the work that still needed to be done on the farm. She developed a great work ethic while helping her parents on the farm.

Loel has served in ministry as a teacher, singer, treasurer, faithful member, and now pastor’s wife. If there is anything you will hear people say continuously about Loel is that she is a woman of prayer and the Word! She is faithful wife and mother and leads her family in the ways of the Lord!

She has faithfully traveled with her husband in ministry for the last 19yrs. The phrase is said; “Behind every successful man is a great woman.” this is so very true for Loel.
